These are devices set in the caves by the traditional enemies of Kardia, the Sechs Empire. Caves are populated by monsters spawned in 'generators'. If not watered, the crops will not die, but they will not advance either. Any crops grown in caves must be watered daily in order to ripen. When tilled, crops appropriate to the season can be grown. Wild items specific to the season can be found on these fields when untilled. Each cave is ruled by a specific season and all caves contain fields that can be cultivated. It can be found at: Rune Factory Harvest Moon Fantasy DS General Guide Caves are significant in Rune Factory for a number of reasons. I have written a comprehensive general guide that deals with all aspects of Rune Factory. Monster names, types, special abilities and domestic potential, if any, are included in the Monster lists. It includes both detailed 'map' descriptions of each cave in Kardia as well as lists of the monsters that can be found in those caves.

This guide is a reference guide that deals specifically with the Caves in Rune Factory. The purpose of the Bestiary and Cave Guide I myself refer to this guide when I need a specific item and cannot remember precisely where the Monster who 'drops' it is located. This should make the game easier for players.

This guide gives detailed descriptions of each cave in Kardia, including the location of each Monster Generator and the items that can be obtained from each, the location of every tillable field and the locations of rocks containing ore. Items that are found in Chests are specific to the Monsters that 'drop' them, although there are items that are dropped by more than one Monster in Rune Factory. You always will find the same Monsters and Generators at the same locations. That is why a 'map' of each cave is useful. The presence of Monsters and Monster Generators in Caves is never random.

That is the third purpose that Monsters serve in Rune Factory. Finally, combat increases levels of experience and skill. Tame Monsters can become allies in battles, farm workers, 'beasts of burden' or animals that give ranch products on a weekly basis. The second purpose served by Monsters is that they can be tamed. The items the chests yield usually cannot be acquired in any other manner and often are vital ingredients in weapons, accessories or medications. First, they 'drop' War Trophies in chests. Moreover, the presence of Monsters in the caves are a critical part of the plot. Each cave is ruled by a specific Season and crops that are appropriate to the season can be grown in the caves throughout the year. In Rune Factory, caves have new expanded dimensions. There are caves in almost every Harvest Moon games and mining is an important aspect of life. The General Guides for Harvest Moon games tend to be enormous but they DO deal with every aspect of the game. Harvest Moon games embrace so many different aspects and activities traditionally that it is useful to write 'mini-guides' for quick reference to a specific aspect of the game as well as a comprehensive General Guide that covers the entire game. The 'Bestiary and Cave Map Guide' is one of my quick reference guides.
